URGENT: Help IDNR Stop Cruelty to Coyotes - PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ENDS MAY 5

Please read Indiana DNR's proposed rule changes (see link below) for possessing and selling live coyotes in Indiana.  This involves foxes and other animals too.  Review the alert under our legislative section and Judith Cieslak's excellent column about this in the Spring 2008 issue of Indiana Sierran, which is in the "Newsletter" section of our website.

http://www.in.gov/nrc/2378.htm

Some trappers hold live coyotes in horrible conditions until they are sold to out-of-state predator enclosures where the coyotes are
released only to be literally torn apart by packs of hunting dogs.  This is essentially organized dog fighting. Indiana is a major
supplier to these animal fighting rings, and Indiana 's trapping industry is engaged in a campaign of disinformation in an attempt to
stop the DNR's rule changes.

Please help counter the trappers' efforts by contacting the DNR during the current public comment period.  Comments should be directed to the Natural Resources Commission by e-mail, written, letter or at a public hearing yet to be scheduled.

E-mail comments to: nrcrules@nrc.IN.gov (refer to LSA #07-749).

Or comment on the NRC website:  http://www.in.gov/nrc/2382.htm

PUBLIC COMMENT DEADLINE IS MONDAY, MAY 5.

Thanks to the Indiana Forest Alliance for providing the above Action Alert:  http://www.indianaforestalliance.org/.
