Chapters, Groups Announce Elections--Nominees Sought The Hoosier Chapter and our Heartlands, Five Rivers, and Winding Waters Groups are all accepting nominations for members to run for their respective executive committees. Nominations for Hoosier Chapter Executive Committee The Hoosier Chapter nominating committee is accepting nominations for club members to run for the chapter Executive Committee (ExCom). The Executive Committee governs the Hoosier Chapter. This year six terms are expiring. The five candidates receiving the highest number of votes will earn a two-year term, and the next highest will earn a one-year term. Please submit your nominations before Sept. 15 to the nominating committee by sending the information listed below. Include the nominated member’s name, address, and phone number and any information you would like the nominating committee to consider in making its selections. Any person who is proposed to the nominating committee or who volunteers to the nominating committee, who is not approved by the nominating committee, will be notified by the nominating committee. The following dates have been established by the chapter executive committee for this year’s election: appointment of nominating committee (nom com) July 28 appointment of election committee Sept. 8 nominations deadline chapter office closing time on Sept. 14 notification (by phone) to recommended members not selected by the nomcom (if any) of their right to petition Oct. 1 petition deadline Oct. 31 nomcom report to the excom (via e-mail) Oct. 31 date of eligibility to run for excom and to vote Nov. 1 date by which ballots must be mailed out (in Indiana Sierran) Dec. 7 close of the election, ballots due in chapter office 6 p.m., Dec. 30 ballots to be counted in chapter office 6 p.m., Dec. 30. If you do not have Web access and would like a copy of the rules, you may request them from the chapter office. Responsibilities of Executive Committee Members Candidates should have the desire to participate in the work of the executive committee, which includes providing opportunities to club members in the chapter to participate in outings, programs, and conservation efforts, both local and national. They should be willing to work on other chapter efforts in fundraising, volunteer development, publicity, and/or chapter management. Candidates should be willing and able to participate in six bimonthly executive committee meetings, usually on Saturdays and usually in Indianapolis. If you are or know of a member who fits this brief description, please consider suggesting him or her to the nominating committee. Nominations for Heartlands, Five Rivers, and Winding Waters Groups Each of the groups that will hold an election this year has established its own nominating committee. The number of positions available will depend on the group. Nominations sent to the chapter office for a group executive committee will be forwarded to the correct volunteer committee.
