New Year's Resolution: To Get Involved!
Chapter Seeks Outings Leaders
The Hoosier Chapter is looking for volunteer outing leaders. Outings can range from an easy greenways walk to a canoe or backpacking trip. Requirements: Must be Sierra Club member; first aid training; Sierra Club Outing Leaders Handbook training; love of the outdoors; and willingness to lead other people. Training will be provided. The chapter is planning outings leader training sessions for this winter. If you are interested in becoming an outings leader or in attending a session, contact Teresa Morehead, (317) 433-7744 or teresa70@ earthlink.net.
Volunteers Needed on the Development Committee
The Development Committee is in the process of working on these very important areas--grants, fund-raising, and membership. Now is a great time to become involved.
These areas have so much potential--with your help they will make a solid difference for the Hoosier Chapter. Please contact Lori Hazlett at the chapter office, (317) 466-9992, if you are interested. No experience necessary!
Lobbyist Needed for Coming Session of the Indiana General Assembly
The Sierra Club is in need of a contract lobbyist for the coming session of the Indiana General Assembly, from the second week in January until at least the end of April.
While experience at the General Assembly is helpful, other attributes are more essential for success in this job. The ability to communicate clearly with legislators and activists is an essential skill. A good basic background in environmental issues and political experience are very helpful, along with an agreeable and patient personality. One must be persistent without being perceived as obnoxious.
Interested persons should send their application to the Hoosier Chapter office, 6224 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, 46220. Applications must be received by Dec. 22. Interviews will be arranged before the end of the year and held beginning Jan. 2.
