Former Sierra Club President Chuck McGrady to Be Guest Speaker
Chapter to Celebrate Its 25th Anniversary with an Awards Dinner on Friday, October 27
Mark your calendar now to attend the Hoosier Chapterís 25th Anniversary Awards Dinner to be held Friday, Oct. 27, starting at 7 p.m., at the Garrison Restaurant at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. The event will celebrate the first 25 years of the Hoosier Chapterís history and be an opportunity to recognize those who have made them memorable and successful.
Former Sierra Club President Chuck McGrady will be the guest speaker. Mr. McGrady has had a long, distinguished history with the Sierra Club. He has served as Georgia Chapter chair and in various capacities for the national organization, including on the clubís Political Committee and Council of Club Leaders. During his two-year tenure as president during 1998 and 1999, many significant environmental issues were addressed by the club, including the Sequoia Monument, the World Trade Organization, the proposal to save the Everglades, the Clubís initiative to save the areas explored by Lewis and Clark, and dam removal to restore salmon runs.
To celebrate 25 years of environmental activism in Indiana, the chapter would like to create a display that highlights the significant events and people in our history. If you have photographs or documents to share for this display, please contact the chapter office so that we can arrange for copying. Also, if you would like to nominate someone to receive special recognition for a significant contribution to the Hoosier Chapter or to the environment, please contact the chapter office. The chapterís office is at 6224 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46220, or call (317) 466-9992.
