Saturday, July 26, 8:45 a.m. Nature Hike at Pinhook Bog
Join a ranger for a 1.5-hour walk along a
floating mat of sphagnum moss and discover evergreens that lose their
needles, and plants that eat insects. Fourteen thousand years in the
making, and a remnant of the last Ice Age, Pinhook Bog is a rare and
beautiful environment. Participants will meet at the visitor center and
caravan to the bog.

The Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center
is located in the southeast corner of the Route 49 and Route 20
intersection; enter from Route 49. For reservations, or more
information about this or other activities at Indiana Dunes National

Wednesday, August 20, 5:30 p.m. Potluck Picnic at Robinson Lake
Come for fun and friends at the annual potluck picnic. Please bring
your favorite dish or a delicious snack to share at Robinson Lake Park
in Hobart. We'll have some great prizes and games for all this year. Or
you can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the highway and woods
beyond this local gem along the bike trail.
From I-65, go east on either 61st Avenue or US Route 6 to Liverpool
Road. From 61st, go north,or from Route 6, go south. Look on the west
side of Liverpool Road at about the 5100 block. Hobart.

Saturday, September 20, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. International Coastal Cleanup on Lake Michigan
Join
the Dunelands Group and other volunteers around the world for the
annual event. Sponsored locally by the Alliance for the Great Lakes,
the coastal cleanup includes much of the Lake Michigan shoreline and
you can select your favorite beach to help out at or meet us at West
Beach in Ogden Dunes, near Miller on US Route 12.
